The royal couple has officially met the unofficial American royals!

As part of their first trip to New York City, Kate Middleton and Prince William attended a Brooklyn Nets basketball game on Monday evening at the Barclays Center in downtown Brooklyn. And, as expected, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took a little time to chat with two of the most famous residents of New York, Beyoncé and Jay Z.

As the Brooklyn Nets took on the Cleveland Cavaliers, Duchess Kate, who is pregnant with her and Prince William's second child, showed off her usual classy style in black pants and a gray coat that covered up her baby bump. Her husband looked casual and cool in a blue and red checked button-down shirt.

The royal pair seemed to enjoy themselves as they sat in courtside seats throughout the game. At one point, the couple landed on the Jumbotron and couldn't help but smile as their faces were projected above the arena.

After the game, Kate and William met many of the basketball players and other famous faces who stopped by for the game, including Beyoncé And Jay Z.

So what did Princess Catherine and Queen Bey chat about?

"Bey and Kate talked about their kids," a source reportedly told E! News. "They asked each other, 'How old is yours?' They basically bonded over motherhood."

The famous ladies definitely have some of the most well known tots around. Perhaps Beyoncé's daughter Blue Ivy, 2, and the Duchess's son Prince George, 1, will have a play date sometime soon?

Although the conversation between the famous ladies was apparently brief, it was "a very warm and friendly one."

"Both also wished each other a Merry Christmas," added the insider.

Prince William and Duchess Kate also met basketball royalty. The royal couple received honorary jerseys from LeBron James, aka the 'King,' whose team, the Cavaliers, beat the Nets 110-88. James also gave the pair a tiny jersey for their son Prince George.  

The NBA star shared a photo from the sweet encounter on Instagram.

"This very moment will be forever remembered and put up in my house. It's all good and all smiles on this side. #Royalty #StriveForGreatness #RWTW #LRMR #Klutch," wrote James.

Sounds like New York brought out the best for the royal couple's visit. It was certainly an event to remember.
