Planetside 2 PS4 Release Date Confirmed: Planetside 2 PlayStation 4 Beta Sign-Ups Available For Free-To-Play Game; Will Planetside 2 Hit 60 Frames a Second?

Planetside 2 PS4 Release Date: Planetside 2 has come to PlayStation 4. Gamers can sign up and check out the console version of the free-to-play Planetside 2 from Sony.

Sony Online Entertainment developers are still working on hitting 60 frames per second with PlanetSide 2 on PlayStation 4.

Sony confirmed that the Planetside 2 PS4 release date will be New Year's Eve, December 31, 2014. Sony might cut the maximum player count before Planetside 2 PS4 is released.

Planetside 2 fans have been waiting for the PlayStation 4 version. Sony said that the playable beta will be available by the end of the year.

The "Planetside 2" beta sign-ups are available at the official website. Gamers enter their email address to enlist and they can be a part of the playable beta.  Gamers don't even need to enter a PSN ID.

Joystiq reported that once a gamer has enlisted, they get the message "Thank you for submitting your email address! We will keep you updated as we prepare to launch PlanetSide 2 on the PS4."

Creative director Matt Higby talked about the delay of the playable beta, saying "As much as it sounds like we're blowing smoke, we're working hard to release a game that feels like a full-on console experience and not just like a port. It's taken us quite a long time to re-jigger our user interface and our controls. There's a lot that needs to get done. Our goal is at the end of the day to have our launch on the PS4 feel like a great PS4 native console game. Not just a PC port."

The shooter MMO has been available on PC since November 2012. It is expected to hit PS4 by the end of the year.
