Revisiting ‘Inuyasha: The Final Act' English Dub Or Why It's The Best Season Of ‘Inuyasha' Ever [REVIEW]

"Inuyasha" is one of those TV anime that ended up with some filler episodes because the manga series wasn't completed by creator Rumiko Takahashi while it was airing.

Nevertheless, any fans who may have given up on the constant howling of "Wind Scar!" should definitely give "Inuyasha: The Final Act" a chance to win their hearts back. For me, it was a conclusion that was much needed and gave fans exactly what they deserved.

[WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD]

For starters, every character in "Inuyasha" gets their due in the final season in unique and action packed ways. For example, there's a fantastic episode in which beloved demon slayer Sango gets some much needed characterization in the form of reconnecting with her weapon. On the surface it seems to be an episode that's filled with silly love declarations for Miroku, but underneath that there's in depth exploration of Sango's greatest trait: her humility.

In fact, humility seems to be a theme of "Inuyasha: The Final Act." The main story of "Inuyasha" prior to this final season seems to be clouded by contrasting good and evil. It's not to say this theme of purification gets dropped in the final season - it doesn't. But instead I think the final season offers an answer as to what actually makes a person good and that is humility. Every character humbles themselves in the final season, including the deceptively prideful Sesshomaru.

Speaking of Sesshomaru, "The Final Act" also has all the coolest weapon upgrades of the series. It should be noted that none of the upgrades feel unearned. In fact, you could say that Sesshomaru's journey through "The Final Act" involves not only mastering a legit attack with tenseiga, but also mastering his own new sword, Batsaiga.

This might seem like a lot to cover in 26 episodes, but in my opinion it is the best paced the anime has ever moved at. Every character grows and changes through falling and rising action. Not to mention, the bits of comedy also come at much welcome times for any fans who may become overwhelmed with the feels.

Perhaps the final and most important reason for my endorsement of "Inuyasha: The Final Act" being the best season of "Inuyasha" is all the payoff that comes from the completed Shikon Jewel. Specifically, it's the seemingly simplistic payoff in Naraku's character as the main villain of the series. To some it might seem silly that Naraku's drive toward evil all originates in his love for Kikyo, but to me it feels actually more subtle than that.

That is to say, the answer to the question why is Naraku evil, gets answered beautifully through some inspiring comparisons drawn between not only Naraku and Inuyasha, but also Naraku and Kagome.
