Oscar Pistorius Murder Case: Paralympian's Lawyer Debunks Claims About His Client's Demeanor Over Judge's New Ruling

The latest in the Oscar Pistorius murder case had the paralympian's lawyer on the defensive as he claimed that his client was very clam over the judge's new ruling.

Last week, news reports have announced that the judge in the Oscar Pistorius'murder case had granted the appeal of the prosecutors to hear again the culpable homicide verdict which effectively gave the "Blade Runner" five years instead of the 15 years the lawyers are asking.

According to the latest rumor, an inmate of Oscar Pistorius at the Kgosi Mampuru II maximum security prison had claimed that the paralympian threw a fit inside after hearing of the latest development.

Oscar Pistorius allegedly "took the news badly by 'stomping off' in a temper to work out in the gym 'like it was going out of fashion,'" the report said.

But the paralympian's lawyer, Brian Webber, insisted that the claim about Oscar Pistorius acting out was false.

"It is not only sensationalist but also devoid of any truth. I personally went to see Oscar straight after Judge [Thokozile] Masipa gave her ruling and discussed it at length with Oscar," he told AFP. "This was the first time Oscar received any information on what had transpired in court."

State prosecutors earlier filed for documents requesting a much harsher sentence after the judge on the Oscar Pistorius murder case only handed him five years in prison for culpable homicide.

In a statement, NPA spokesperson Nathi Mncube said: "Today, we announce that the NPA filed the application for leave to appeal both the conviction and sentence. The appeal on conviction is based on the question of law."

Earlier, Advocate Mannie Witz of The Bridge law firm told Times Live that the prosecution plan to appeal the judge's ruling in the Oscar Pistorius' murder case leaves a small window for his lawyers to petition for bail. "If leave for appeal is granted, he can apply for bail and possibly be released as his legal team prepares its case," she said.
