4 K-Pop Idol Groups That Disbanded In 2014

Despite all of the tragedies, contract conflicts, scandals that filled the Korean entertainment industry in 2014, there were surprisingly few public announcements of idol groups disbanding.

While few entertainment agencies formally announced that idol groups were disbanding, here are a few bands that have confirmed their members are going their separate ways.

Kiss&Cry – Debut: 2014
One of the newer groups on this list debuted in January 2014 with “Domino Game.” Although “Domino Game” did well and Kiss&Cry’s debut was applauded, it couldn’t keep the rookie girl group going. In September, member Haena announced that Kiss&Cry had disbanded.

Their entertainment agency, WIM, has not verified the disbandment, but nothing has been heard of the group in several months and Kiss&Cry is no longer listed on WIM’s website, although member Dia is listed as a solo artist.

F-ve Dolls –Debut: 2011
One of the longest running groups on this list is F-ve Dolls, who debuted in 2011 with “Lip Stains” and “Its You,” with Jay Park featured in both songs. Four of the members had previously been part of Coed School, a coed idol group that was later split into F-ve Dolls and Speed.

The group went through various member changes in between promotional periods. In November, a revamp of MBK Entertainment’s website listed labelmates Speed and T-ara, but F-ve Dolls was consciously left out, implying that the group had ceased to exist.

Demion- Debut: 2013
The boy group Demion debuted with “Ask Her Out,” and gained a decent size fan base. However, in October 2014, the eldest member Nak Hun, who also hosts Pops in Seoul on Arirang, wrote to Demion’s fans on Twitter that, due to financial issues, the group had disbanded.

M.O.A – Debut: 2014
The shortest-lived group of 2014, M.O.A debuted in February with “I’ll Call Ya,” and their company deleted their website and Twitter account by April. M.O.A’s debut had gone off poorly from the start, with KBS deciding not even to air the music video for “I’ll Call Ya” due to the poor quality of the video.

M.O.A released “Run For You” in March, but it wasn’t enough to keep their company from cutting the girl group.

In 2014, questions also arose about the futures of groups like 2NE1, Big Bang, Girls' Generation, EXO, MBLAQ, and B.A.P. There are other idol groups that have been quiet, making fans wonder about their futures, but these four are the few who it is clear won't resurface.
