Florida Governor Jeb Bush To Run For The US Presidency In 2016; Would Americans Support Another President With His Last Name?

Another Bush is planning to sit in the White House. Reuters reported that Florida governor Jeb Bush is exploring a possible candidacy for the 2016 United States presidency. Jeb served as governor of Florida between 1999 and 2007.

On Monday, the 61-year-old said that he will form a political action committee in January 2015. The move will allow him to test the waters whether there will be enough supporters and donors to run a presidential campaign.

Miami Herald reported that Bush posted on his Facebook and Twitter account: "I have decided to actively explore the possibility of running for President of the United States."

He added, "In January, I also plan to establish a Leadership PAC that will help me facilitate conversations with citizens across America to discuss the most critical challenges facing our exceptional nation," Bush wrote. "The PAC's purpose will be to support leaders, ideas and policies that will expand opportunity and prosperity for all Americans."

There are a number of factors that Jeb Bush has to consider before running for the US Presidency in 2016 such as going against strong opposition in the Republican Party. He will also need to consider other possible bids for the presidency by Chris Christie, Mitt Romney and Rand Paul.

Also, he needs to determine if Americans are still willing to support a third president with the same last name. Jeb is the son of former President George H.W. Bush and brother of former president George W. Bush.

Saul Anuzis, former chairman of the Michigan Republican Party said, "It's extremely clever because he will be the talk of holiday tables all across the country. By coming out early, he establishes the bar for everybody else to meet and immediately ties up a tremendous amount of the financial community."

A final decision on whether Bush will seek the Republican presidential nomination will come at some point in early 2015 after he travels to key states and talks to voters. "In the coming months, I hope to visit with many of you and have a conversation about restoring the promise of America," he reportedly said.
