George R.R. Martin Winds Of Winter Christmas Tweet Was Not Gift, But We Can Watch ‘The Interview’ At His Place

Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin set the literary world atwitter when he took to Twitter to offer Winds of Winter Christmas tweets. But the author rocked social media again with a lengthy series of tweets over the Sony Hacking and what he saw as Sony's cowardly capitulation.

They don't act like that in Westeros.

Author George R.R. Martin is still not sure when he will be finished with Winds of Winter. The whole of 2014 has been filled with speculation on when Winds of Winter would hit book stores. The year came and went and it still doesn't look like George R.R. Martin will be putting the book out anytime soon. He certainly won't be working on it on Christmas.

Now that Sony decided on a limited release of "The Interview," the "Game of Thrones" author, was one of the first to book the film into his theater, the Jean-Cocteau Theater, in Santa Fe, N.M. Martin says will run it four times on Christmas, and he might extend it for least two weeks.

Martin bought the one-screen art-house theater last year. It's usually closed for Christmas but now that Sony's going to let him, he'll open it just to show "The Interview."

When Sony yanked the Seth Rogan James Franco film after the cyber attack, George R.R. Martin said he would "glad to screen The Interview (assuming that Sony does eventually release the film for theatrical exhibition, rather than streaming it or dumping it as a direct-to-DVD release), should it be made available to us."

In a post last week, Martin wrote "The level of corporate cowardice here astonishes me. Whether it's the next CITIZEN KANE or the next PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE, it astonishes me that a major Hollywood film could be killed before release by threats from a foreign power and anonymous hackers" along with offers to screen the film.

On Monday, Martin posted "I have been in communication with the owners and operators of other independent cinemas and arthouses, and representatives of some of the smaller [movie theater] chains, and I know that hundreds of these venues would gladly screen this film, if only Sony will make it available."

North Korea's DPRK News Service took to Twitter to comment "Supreme Leader Kim Jong-Un sternly rebukes criminal provocations by indolent U.S. propaganda stooge George R.R. Martin."
