Charli XCX Break The Rules In Instagram; Charli X Gives Boom Clap Defense Of Iggy Azalea

Charli XCX, the "Break the Rules" singer who is breaking through as this year's outstanding artist, came to the defense of Iggy Azalea in the ongoing feud with Azealia Banks.

The British hit maker who was born Charlotte Emma Aitchison in East Hertfordshire, England defended her controversial musical partner Iggy Azalea, an Australian rapper who has been a hater's favorite since she beat Eminem and Drake for favorite rap/hip hop artist and album at the American Music Awards.

Rapper Azealia Banks, who calls Azalea "Igloo Australia," called out Iggy Azalea for painting on a polite shade of black to win over rap audiences. The Australian rapper was also called out for covering up her down under accent. Iggy Azalea has lived in America for eight years.

"Iggy's not only a rap star, right now at this moment in time she's a pop icon."And pop icons can do whatever the f- they want. They don't have to stick within the boundaries. They don't have to play the rules the right way. David Bowie didn't. I'm not comparing her to Bowie, but who gives a f-? It's just because it's hip-hop. There's people who really think about rap and hip-hop in such an old school way," Charli XCX told news.com.au.

Iggy and Charli XCX met when Azalea they co-wrote the Number One smash single Fancy.

Charli XCX is in growing demand as a songwriter. She wrote the 2012 smash "I Love It," for Swedish duo Icona Pop as well the 2014 Iggy Azalea summer anthem "Fancy."

The "Break the Rules" singer recently teamed up with Vampire Weekend multi-instrumentalist Rostam Batmanglij on Late Show With David Letterman.

Charli XCX released "Sucker," her second album, on Monday, December 15. The new Charli XCX album includes "Break The Rules" and "Boom Clap," which rose to No. 8 on Billboard's Hot 100 after being featured in the movie "The Fault in Our Stars."

Charli XCX will join be Katy Perry's  special guest on the European leg of the "I Kissed a Girl" singer's "Prismatic Tour." Charli will then headline her own eight-city tour of the United Kingdom. She will announce North American tour dates soon.
