M.I.B's Kangnam Releases First Solo Single, Tops Charts Ahead Of New York City Performance

M.I.B’s Kangnam released a chart-topping solo song only weeks before the group heads to New York City.

Kangnam, who became one of 2014’s breakout stars for his appearances on variety shows, released “What Do I Do?” on December 26. The same day that it was released “What Do I Do?” topped multiple Korean music charts. Kangnam’s popularity spike comes immediately before M.I.B heads to New York in order to appear at the 55th Annual Korean-American Day Celebration.

“What Do I Do?” took the number one spot on Daum Music’s realtime chart, and also appeared on music charts from websites like Genie, Mnet, and Melon. Kangnam shared a tweet with a picture of the music charts when “What Do I Do?” reached number one.

The single “What Do I Do?” is Kangnam’s second solo song. He had previously released “Say My Name” in 2011 prior to debut; the song was included on M.I.B’s debut album “Most Incredible Busters.”

It is unknown whether Kangnam will perform “What Do I Do” as a solo song during M.I.B’s performance on January 13. Girl group 4TEN and solo singers Ali and Tae Jin Ah will also perform at the Korean-American Day Celebration. The concert will be held at Colden Auditorium on the Queens College campus in Flushing, New York City.
