Apple Lucky Bag 2015 Sale Set To Return On January In The Japanese Market! Which Apple Items Will Be Up For Sale?

Apple Japan will continue to follow the Japanese tradition of fukubukuro ("lucky bag", "mystery bag"). It is a Japanese New Year custom in which merchants, brick-and-mortar retail stores make grab bags filled with unknown random content and sell them for a steep discount, usually 50% or more off the list price of the items contained in the bag.

The promotion begins January 2 in Apple Retail Stores across Japan.

Last year, Apple's Lucky Bags sold for 36,000 yen or $345 and ideally contained products like iPod nano, iPad Air and MacBook Air. Although each variation of the Lucky Bag was different, all of them contained a commemorative T-shirt, backpack and Mophie Juice Pack Powerstation Mini. Neither buyers of Lucky Bags have an idea what's inside the bag nor can they get a refund unless a product is defective. Some lucky customers have received swank items like iPads and MacBook Airs as a result of which, Lucky Bags have gained so much popularity in Japan.

According to the terms and conditions page on Apple's retail website, the 2015 promotion is set to return on January 2nd, 2015. Japanese blog Kodawarisan spotted this (via AppleInsider). The page further clarifies that the limit is one Lucky Bag per shopper, pricing is non-negotaible and items in the Lucky Bags are not eligible for refund or return (unless defective). For one day, Apple, an American multinational corporation headquartered in Cupertino, California, will discount select products in a store-wide sale extended only to its Japanese customers. The sale would focus on the "Lucky Bags" which costs 36,000 Yen and moreover, is available only in limited quantities.

In the four versions of last year's Lucky Bag included items such as The Beats by Dre Pill Bluetooth speaker, Apple Magic Mouse, Nike+ FuelBand SE, Square Reader and JayBird BlueBuds X headphones. However, not everyone who waits in the line for an Apple Lucky Bag gets exactly he or she wants. Having said that, everyone gets their money's worth though.

Pricing for 2015's Apple Lucky Bag has not yet been announced, however, it's likely to be in line with last year's pricing.
