Install Android 5.0 Lollipop Update On Samsung Galaxy Note; GT-N7000 Phablet Receive CM12 ROM NightOwl Version

The very first Samsung phablet can now have the Android 5.0 Lollipop update via a custom ROM.

Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 was first released in the market on October 2011, originally running on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread. According to the specs list on GSM Arena, the latest OS made available for the smartphone is Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update.

But thanks to custom Android developers, owners of Samsung Galaxy Note 2 have a chance now to install Android 5.0 Lollipop update via a custom ROM. As reported on International Business Times, the custom firmware available for the phablet is a CyanogenMod CM12 series, particularly the NightOwl version. The firmware was developed by member of XDA Developer forum site known as "bauner." Moreover, DroidTwe4kz and TouchLeclouds also contributed in the creation of the CyanogenMod12 ROM.

Those who wish to install Android 5.0 Lollipop update on Samsung Galaxy Note should make sure that there is enough memory space on the smartphone. Specifically, the custom firmware based on Android Open Source Project (AOSP) 5.0.1 Lollipop weighs 259.1 megabytes.

It is also important to take note that the custom ROM available is an experimental and still unstable Beta-1 CM12 build, which means there might still be firmware issues that are yet to be fixed.

But before the update process, Galaxy Note GT-N7000 users need to create a backup first of all the relevant settings and data stored on the smartphone. Installing a custom ROM might likely wipeout the device's memory.

Also, the battery level needs to be 80 percent or more before updating the phablet with model number GT-N7000 with Android 5.0 Lollipop update via CM12 Beta-1 ROM.
