Former EXO Members Kris & Luhan To Meet With SM Entertainment For Mediation On The Same Day

Two former EXO members will meet with SM Entertainment on the same day.

Kris and Luhan, former members of EXO and EXO's Mandarin-speaking subgroup EXO-M, will each meet with SM Entertainment on January 16. The two will meet with SM Entertainment's legal representatives to try and settle their legal differences outside of court. Although the mediation meetings will take place on the same day, both Luhan and Kris will reportedly meet with SM Entertainment separately.

The two Chinese celebrities will meet with SM Entertainment's representatives at the Seoul Central District Court on January 16, reports the K-Pop Herald.

Kris filed a lawsuit seeking to nullify his contract with SM Entertainment in May, while Luhan filed a similar lawsuit in October. Both court cases were sent to the Seoul Central District Court, but it was decided that they should be sent to arbitration panels in attempts to reach agreements between SM Entertainment and the other parties before heading to court in formal lawsuits.

This will be Kris's third mediation meeting with SM Entertainmant, and Luhan's second following a meeting on December 26. SM Entertainment's meeting with Kris will be held at 10:20 a.m, followed by a meeting with Luhan at 11 a.m.

Each side will bring legal representation, and judges will be present.

Both Kris and Luhan brought cases against SM Entertainment to cancel their exclusivity contracts based on a variety of reasons. Kris's suit against SM Entertainment was brought due to strict and strenuous schedules, exploitation of human rights and basic living conditions, as well as unfair distribution of profit. Luhan's suit claims that SM Entertainment unfairly favored EXO-K (the Korean subgroup) more than EXO-M.

Prior to leaving EXO, Kris was a rapper and leader of EXO-M, while Luhan's vocal skills and physical appearance made him a fan favorite.

SM Entertainment has reportedly claimed that it is concerned that outside influences is trying to attract EXO-M's lucrative members away from the company.

EXO debuted in 2012, and has become one of the most popular K-pop groups in the world.
