K-Pop Debuts To Look Forward To In 2015 [Poll]

The countdown to 2015 has ended, and a new countdown has begun to see what K-pop acts will debut this year. Here are a few acts that are rumored to debut in 2015.

iKON- YG Entertainment’s upcoming boy group is the most definite debut on this list. The seven member group was put together during two reality survival programs, Who Is Next: WIN and MIX & MATCH. Several of the members have already released music prior to debut, including collaborations with various YG Entertainment artists. There is no set date for iKON’s debut, but YG Entertainment’s CEO, Yang Hyun Suk, has said that it will take place in the beginning of the year.

1PUNCH- Brave Entertainment will be launching a new group that will utilize a 90’s style concept to stand out in the crowd. The group will by stylized similarly to Seo Taiji and Boys, and will incorporate jazz and hip-hop elements in their songs. It is unknown when the group will debut, and what the member line up looks like.

SM Rookies- SM Entertainment’s most promising trainees are members of a qausi-group known as SM Rookies. Several members of Red Velvet released songs and performance videos prior to debut, and there are reports that SM will release a male rookie group in 2015, three years since the debut of EXO, SM Entertainment’s last male group to debut. The group is rumored to either debut in the first half of the year, or the last quarter of 2015.

6Mix- In 2014, JYP Entertainment was rumored to debut a girl group named 6Mix would be debuting that year. However, JYP Entertainment didn’t debut any group other than Got7, and it is likely that 6Mix will debut in 2015.

CLC- Cube Entertainment will be releasing a multinational girl group in 2015. The girl group will be the company’s first girl group since 4Minute debuted in 2009. The members have been working prior to debut as models and holding performances in Seoul’s popular music neighborhood, Hongdae.

Pink Punk- YG Entertainment’s upcoming girl group has been rumored to make its debut for several months. The final member line up is unknown, and the name is only tentative. There is no known timeline, but YG Entertainment will likely debt the girl group this year. Fans have reportedly been losing patience, since YG hasn’t debuted a girl group since 2009.

Lizzy- After School and Orange Caramel member Lizzy is reported to be pursuing a solo debut as a trot singer in 2015. Lizzy has experience with trot, a genre of music specific to Korea; her debut song to gain acceptance in After School was a trot song. She is planning on releasing a solo album.

Baby Kara- Not the formal name for DSP Entertainment’s upcoming girl group, but the trainees have gained this title after appearing on a variety show where the members competed to become a member of DSP headline group Kara. Heo Youngji ended up winning the spot, and it is likely that DSP will debut the other trainees in 2015.

NO.MERCY – Starship Entertainment is going to debut the so-called “male version of SISTAR” in 2015. The members are being picked via a survival reality show. The group is likely to debut in the start of 2015, once the reality show ends.

Amber- f(x)’s Amber will debut as a solo artist in 2015.

Jonghyun- The SHINee member is also rumored to debut as a solo artist.

Taeyeon- The Girls’ Generation member will also allegedly launch a solo career.
