NBA Trade Rumors: Jeff Green To Portland Trail Blazers? Rising Team In The West Needs Bench Scoring In The Playoffs! Boston Celtics In Complete Rebuild Mode

The NBA Trade Rumors will continue to include the Boston Celtics although it is no longer haunting them like a dark cloud anymore. Jeff Green claims he is content and his contract is not expiring but it does not belie the fact that he would be a great contributor to an aspiring contender like the Portland Trail Blazers.

While it is still speculative and not an actual trade rumor, the pieces seem to fit for Jeff Green being sent to Portland by the Boston Celtics. As NBA Insider Chad Ford says, the Celtics have made a decision to rebuild when they traded their best player:

"I think the Celtics know that they can't stay in this limbo. Once they moved Rondo, they decided that the best way forward was to rebuild through collecting assets. Green and Brandon Bass are the two guys that now don't really fit the future. I think there will be a market for both guys and Ainge will figure out something before the trade deadline in mid-February. I don't think either will bring a huge return, but a large collection of assets can add up over time and I think that will be Ainge's strategy going forward."

The speculation begins (if they aren't in full swing already) as to where Green would go. Bleacher Report points out:

"Who might want Green? The Portland Trail Blazers could bite. They're 26-7, with more wins than anyone in the league. But are they deep enough to survive a four-round stroll through the West's minefield? Better question: Would they part with their 2015 first-round pick (bound to be in the mid-high 20s) to improve their chances?"

The Western Conference is really tight but the Portland Trail Blazers are actually in the top half of the playoff teams and can actually snare home court advantage. However, they know that they have a shallow bench compared to teams like the San Antonio Spurs or Golden State Warriors. If they really believe they can contend now, shifting future picks for a solid, versatile player like Green is worth it.
