Sibyl System Scanners Appear In Japanese Metro Stations Promoting Upcoming ‘Psycho-Pass' Movie

While some fans may have been ultimately disappointed in "Psycho-Pass" season two, that hasn't stopped high hopes for the new "Psycho-Pass" movie that will premiere this weekend.

And in a somewhat brilliant marketing scheme, fans in Japan will finally get to read their own Crime Coefficients.

A photo surfaced today of mock Sibyl System scanners in Japanese metro stations that allow fans to receive their own "Psycho-Pass." The all new "Psycho-Pass" movie, which is notably rated for 15 year olds and up, will hit theaters January 9.

"Psycho-Pass" screenwriter Gen Urobuchi spoke to Anime News Network back in September about the world of the anime series, and how it relates to reality. Particularly, he spoke about the connection through popular villain character Shogo Makishima.

"Our world and that of Psycho-Pass aren't completely alien - there are a lot of shared problems, issues, and concepts," explained Urobuchi.

"If Shogo were to live in our world? I think he'd be able to find happiness and freedom. But one of the most important themes I was trying to convey in the creation of Psycho-Pass was "fear" in the world. That's why he has this sense of feeling out of place."

The connection to the real world perhaps explains the appeal of having real live Sibyl System to test out, hopefully without being subjected to destruction by dominators.

Anime News Network reports that the "Psycho-Pass" movie Sibyl System scanners appear in several Japanese metro stations, most notably Tokyo's Shinjuku Station. Reportedly, those fans who venture in front of the 60-inch screens will be met by an Inspector or Enforcer when their Crime Coefficient is around 100.

For anyone above 300, a dominator appears on the screen ready to take you down. In this regard, thankfully the world of "Psycho-pass" remains a creation of Gen Urobuchi.

Anime News Network provides the synopsis for the upcoming "Psycho-Pass" movie below:

"Year 2116-The Japanese government's begins to export the "Sibyl System" unmanned drone robots to troubled countries, and the system spreads throughout the world. A state in the midst of a civil war, SEAUn (the South East Asia Union, pronounced "shian"), brings in the "Sibyl System" as an experiment.

Under the new system, the coastal town of Shambala Float achieves temporary peace and safety. But then SEAUn sends terrorist to Japan. They slip through the "Sibyl System" and then attack from within. The shadow of a certain man falls on this incident. In charge of the police, Tsunemori travels to Shambala Float to investigate. The truth of justice on this new ground will become clear."
