The 100 Season 2 Midseason Finale Recap And Review, Episode 9 "Spacewalker" [VIDEO]

"The 100" is entering season 2, and what started as a low key sci fi drama is quickly gaining fans and noteriety. The 100 just had its miseason finale.

The synopsis for the upcoming season 2 episode 8 itled "Sleepwalker" reads, "Clarke (Eliza Taylor) returns to Camp Jaha with devastating news. Finn (Thomas McDonell) struggles with the aftermath of his actions. Abby (Paige Turco) gathers information from an unlikely source and prepares for a fight. Meanwhile, flashbacks reveal Finn and Raven's (Lindsey Morgan) relationship on the Ark."

The Huffington Post Reports, "Let me put it another way: I was both surprised and unsurprised by the ending, but either way, I only have positive thoughts about what occurred. It's not that I enjoy watching a core character die, of course. I just think that too many shows shirk from having characters suffer realistic consequences for their actions, and ever since Finn (Thomas McDonell) massacred 18 Grounders in a small village, I have thought he would have to pay a very big price for that action.

Not that that's the kind of act that can ever truly be atoned for, but if "The 100" had let that incident slide, I would have thought much less of the show. Brisk pacing and good twists are one thing, but a show accrues more substantial emotional weight when the characters have to struggle though events that are hard to process and accept. What occurred in "Spacewalker" was hard to watch -- but in a good way, given that it will deepen the characters and make their lives and their dilemmas even more challenging going forward.

As I said, I wasn't surprised that Finn had to pay a price for his actions: That lines up with the moral universe the show has been building for two seasons. I was somewhat surprised that that price was death. Despite much evidence that it's not interested in conducting TV business as usual (unless that suits its purposes), I expected "The 100" to behave like a typical broadcast network drama and find a way to avoid killing off a popular character in the middle of the show's second season. What "The 100" did is quite rare, though I do think it was the right decision under this particular set of circumstances.

That said, many aspects of Finn's fate landed like a punch in the gut. The hardest thing to watch: Clarke as the person who ended Finn's life. There were so many reasons it had to be that way: Practically, a quick death via Clarke's knife was better than slow, horrific death courtesy of the Grounders, and of course, Clarke and Finn cared about each other a great deal. For her to be able to comfort him just before his death was so important."

Taylor revealed some events that are to be expected on her character for "The 100" season 2.

"Clarke definitely takes a darker turn this season. She has to make a lot of hard decisions to survive," explained Taylor.

"When Clarke discovers a horrifying project being carried out in Mount Weather's medical ward, she joins forces with an unlikely ally. After Abby confesses to committing a crime, Kane issues an order to have her brutally punished. Meanwhile, Monty (Chris Larkin) warns a distracted Jasper (Devon Bostick) that Clarke could be in trouble, and Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) continues to fight for Lincoln (Ricky Whittle)," the synopsis reads.

Celebeat reports, "How will the negotiations proceed? In an interview with IGN, Taylor said: "I don't think it's going to move forward quite as easily as you would think. Clarke's not exactly in the good books given that Finn was supposed to die by the hand of the Commander after torture, because that's their way. So the fact that Clarke has eliminated that satisfaction for the Grounders, that definitely doesn't put them off to a very good start. But we are definitely going to try to focus on making them realize that our common enemy is Mount Weather."

But the negotiations between the people of the Ark and the Grounders did pushed through. In the promo trailer for the next episode, the two sides are shown sitting across each other over a long banquet table with Lexa declaring: "Tonight we celebrate our new found peace. Tomorrow, we plan our war." They have already raised their glasses in toast when one of Lexa's lieutenant falls, apparently a victim of poisoning. Raven was accused of the crime. The last scene in the teaser clip shows her tied to a post being tortured by the Grounders' Commander.

The 100 is scheduled to air on Wednesday night at 8pm central, check back for more information about "The 100" season 2 as it becomes available.
