Review: Brave Brothers Continues To Innovate On The New Hello Venus Single 'Wiggle Wiggle' [AUDIO]

A great innovator is like a shark, constantly on the hunt for something new.

Always restlessly searching for new sounds and styles to explore, South Korean producer Brave Brothers has proved to be one of the genre's greatest contributors and has garnered the type of respect that comes with being a known artist at the top of your game.

K-pop fans have yet to take to Hello Venus in a major way, which is really too bad. Because, though Brothers has worked with many of Korea's greatest acts, his collaborations with this six-member girl group, particularly on their previous single "Sticky Sticky" and now "Wiggle Wiggle," have been a highpoint among recent Hallyu releases.

"Wiggle Wiggle" comes on like an auditory hallucination, with musical sections that seem to jump around almost by free association.

While Brothers was often content in his earlier releases to sit on a sweet groove for around three minutes, "Wiggle Wiggle" unfolds quickly, consistently and in surprising ways.

Vocally, the Hello Venus members play the Britney Spears-influenced sound they can do so well, for all its worth, mirroring the darker electro Ms. S. moved into on her own later material. But there is a lot more going on here than just innovative production and Britney mimicry.

Hello Venus once again prove they have the goods, talent-wise.

They can sing with passion without needing to show off. And Brothers, who is mercifully sparse with his use of Auto-Tune and other pitch correction techniques anyway, appears to leave the vocals surprisingly naked for a pop release in 2015, which to this reviewer's ears is a godsend.

This is some high quality, well-produced pop here, some of the best around. Lets just hope the K-poppers of the world will give it a chance.
