CNBLUE's Jung Yong Hwa To Collaborate With Singaporean Mandopop Singer JJ Lin For 'Checkmate'

On January 13, FNC Entertainment announced Singaporean singer-songwriter JJ Lin as the fourth collaborator on Jung Yong Hwa’s solo release.

JJ Lin will appear on the track “Checkmate.” According to FNC’s website for the upcoming release, there will be a music video featuring both artists, has generated great excitement with fans of Asian music.

The vocalist has expressed an interest in the music of CNBLUE, in the past. He posted a backstage photo from a CNBLUE concert in 2013 to his Twitter account, generating interest from fans of both acts. 

In 2014, JJ Lin was the recipient of a Golden Melody Award for Best Male Mandopop Performer for his album "Stories Untold."  He released his album “Genesis” in December 2014 with the hit lead single, “Brave New World.”

Actor and rapper YDG (Yang Dong Geun) was the first featured artist to be announced for Jung Yong Hwa’s solo album. The stars of the period drama “The Three Musketeers” collaborated for the hip-hop and pop-rock track “Mileage.”

YDG is not the only hip-hop artist to appear on the album. He is joined by Brand New Music’s Verbal Jint. Verbal Jint recently received acclaim for his appearance on the jam-packed collaboration hit “Born Hater.”

Yoon Do Hyun of the Korean hard rock band YB will also make an appearance on Jung Yong Hwa’s album. His was announced as the third artist. In 2014, YB released their U.S. single “Cigarette Girl.” The group is scheduled as part of the lineup for SXSW 2015, which will take place in Austin, Texas in March 2015.

Jung Yong Hwa is best known for his role in the Korean pop-rock group, CNBLUE. His upcoming album will mark his solo debut, capturing a wide range of musical styles.
