K-Pop Crossover: Black Eyed Peas Members Want 2NE1's CL On Their Anniversary Album

After working with Black Eyed Peas rapper will.i.am, 2NE1's lead rapper CL could be collaborating with the hip-hop group in honor of their anniversary.

On Jan. 5, will.i.am spoke to "Capital FM Breakfast Show" on the group's plans to celebrate 20 years since the release of their debut album.

"We're gonna have new music, we'll have a bunch of new experiences, [but] I don't wanna call them albums," said 39-year-old rapper.

"We'll have experiences and a bunch of stuff to get the PEAbodies, and the folks that supported us, that got us to this point, all the support the love, the encouragement and listening to and sharing our music. We'll make music for them and just reflect on the initial dream we had in June, 1995."

On Saturday, will.i.am tweeted Lee "CL" Chaerin on Twitter, asking the fellow rapper to join them on this year's new release. This sentiment was soon echoed by Black Eyed Peas member Taboo.

According to allkpop, CL is expected to be traveling to America soon to conclude preparations for her solo debut, so perhaps she will record with the Black Eyed Peas during her time here.

In November, it was announced by record label YG Entertainment that CL would be making a solo debut in the US early next year.

"I want to represent Asian women," said CL to Billboard last year. "I want to break that typical Asian female stereotype. There's this standard where they're all calm. I want to break that. I want to tell the world that there are some badass Asian female girls."

Based on her recent Instagram photos, CL's debut is expected to include collaborations with Diplo, Skrillex and Jesse Jo Stark. Her debut will be overseen by talent manager Scooter Braun, known for working with Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.
