Gwyneth Paltrow Tells Howard Stern Brad Pitt Was The One Who Got Away; ‘I Definitely Fell In Love With Him,’ Says Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow opened up to Howard Stern about her conscious uncoupling with her ex-boyfriend Brad Pitt. Paltrow says Angelina Jolie's husband "was too good for me" on Howard Stern's SiriusXM radio show.

Gwyneth Paltrow was on the Howard Stern show to promote her new movie with Johnny Depp, Mortdecai when the subject of Brad Pitt came up.

Gwyneth Paltrow, 42, and Brad Pitt dated when Paltrow when in her early twenties. Pitt and Paltrow met on the set Seven, 1995 thriller. Gwyneth and Brad got engaged in 1996. The pair split up a year later.

"I didn't think about it at the time, but I'm sure it did help with my career. I definitely fell in love with him. He was so gorgeous and sweet. I mean, he was Brad Pitt," Gwyneth told Howard Stern.

Bruce Paltrow, Gwyneth's producer father, "was devastated when we broke up. My father loved him like a son. I was such a kid, I was 22 when we met. It's taken me until 40 to get my head out of my ass. You can't make that decision when you're 22 years old. I wasn't ready, and he was too good for me. I didn't know what I was doing," Paltrow said.

After Gwyneth and Brad broke up, Paltrow dated Ben Affleck for three years. Paltrow's friends weren't upset when Paltrow and Affleck split.

"They appreciated how he's super intelligent and he's really, really talented and he's funny. But he wasn't in a good place in his life to have a girlfriend. I think they were OK - they loved him but they were OK with us not being [together]," Paltrow said.

Paltrow married Coldplay frontman Chris Martin in 2004, but they consciously uncoupled after ten years in March 2014.

Stern asked how she would respond if  her ex-husband dated someone she didn't like, for instance Lindsay Lohan?

"Well, there's redemption," said Paltrow.
