◆ The tragic death of his sister Moon Chi Hoo
Choi Young (Lee Min Ho) was originally a bright and optimistic young man but he changed drastically for the worst after he witnesses the death of his teacher (Choi Min Soo) whom he followed like a father. It was shortly followed by the death of his first love Mae Hee and after that, he believed life was futile and lived his life like a zombie.
◆ Choi Young Is Brought Back to Life by Eun Soo
Choi Young had been stabbed and though his physical wounds were tended to by Eun Soo (Kim Hee Sun), he was still unconscious. Eun Soo's tears and voice brought him back to life like a ray of light. This signaled a change in him that would result in his opening his heart once more to Eun Soo and the possibility of happiness.
◆ Choi Young Rises Again
Choi Young had to kill Prince Kyung Chang himself when he realized that the prince had drank the poison of Ki Chul (Yoo Oh Sung). This was a shock to him and the viewers alike. The sacrifice of the prince led to Choi Young's anger against Ki Chul and he vows that the prince's death will not be in vain and it really signals the beginning of the big plotlines in the drama.
◆ Choi Young Vows Allegiance to the King
Choi Young declares that he will not stop even while in prison for a false crime that he did not commit. He goes to King Gong Min and says, "Take me as yours. I will fight for you." He was vowing to become the sword and shield of the king and officially proclaims himself a true warrior protecting the King and the dynasty.
◆ Choi Young Finds A Reason to Live
Choi Young fights off against all of Ki Chul's men and finds a new reason to live in Eun Soo. He fights to live in order to protect her and even runs from time to time. He learns that there are boundaries for dying and living and there's no use in fighting to the death all the time.
◆ Choi Young Feels the Weight of the Sword
Choi Young realizes just how heavy the sword is as he understands what it means to go through life with its burdens and its pains. Lee Min Ho portrayed his subtle emotions very well, ranging from sadness to anger and then even to love, falling in love with Kim Hee Sun's character and attracting the attention of viewers.
The finale to the drama airs tomorrow.
