Xia Junsu's "Tarantallegra" Is KpopStarz Best Song of 2012 by K-Pop Artist

The people have spoken. In a ten-day long close battle for the Best Song of 2012, a winner emerges.  There were essentially hundreds of songs to choose from, and a handful in the shortlist that KpopStarz ended up using, Xia Junsu's "Tarantallegra" bested the strongest of contenders, scoring a good lead with 28.33% votes.  It is closely followed by TVXQ's most recent hit "Catch Me" with 26.72%.

"Tarantallegra" is the title and carrier single for JYJ Xia Junsu's first solo album and concert tour.  It was released in the middle of the year, and was celebrated for its unique and unconventional approach to Xia Junsu's style.  Still touting Junsu's raw and powerful vocals, the change-up in style was lauded by critics as being both edgy and simple -- a formula for a hit song made for the masses. A hit song proven its title with this significant win.

In the closely fought-out battle for KpopStarz Best Song of 2012, only Junsu and TVXQ achieved over a quarter of the votes each.  Super Junior's "Sexy, Free and Single" trail not far behind with 22.01% of the votes.  The aggregated votes for the Top 3 songs total 77.06%, making it a concentrated battle for the Top 3. The rest of the songs are evenly split, proving that for about a quarter of the overall poll-takers if combined, the decision to choose the Best Song of 2012 was tough to make, as the choices show fragmentation beyond the Top 3. Additionally, the top voted songs show the strength of JYJ fans,TVXQ fans and ELF (SuperJunior's fans) in supporting their idols.  It is a strength in numbers to never be underestimated.

2012 was indeed a year of good music, as nearly all the songs, while not a comprehensive list of all of the year's best music, that vyed for the top honors are also worthy of winning.  Nearly all idol groups were represented with a single track they released this year.  Who did you vote for?
