Twitter New Features Reveal Online As New Group Messaging And Video Features Will Help Them Compete Against Other Social Network Sites!

It looks like new features for Twitter have been revealed online, and it will help them compete againts other social networking sites.

According to repprts from Guardian, Twitter is set to unveil two new functions: a new private group messaging service and the ability to shoot, edit and post videos directly via the Twitter app.

These two new functions already are already present on Facebook, and are now Twitter users will now experience the features as it rival. The only way users could share video on Twitter was through Vine until now.

Designntrend.com revealed that the video feature lets you upload 30-second non-looping clips viewable on their timelines. However, Twitter clarified, that the new function is not meant to replace its independent six-second video app, Vine.

Twitter announced the new features in a blog post, "We designed our camera to be simple to use so you can capture and share life's most interesting moments as they happen."

"In just a few taps you can add a video to unfolding conversations, share your perspective of live event, and show your everyday moments instantly, without ever having to leave the app. Viewing and playing videos is just as simple: videos are previewed with a thumbnail and you can play them with just one tap."

The group direct message function enable users to chat with more than one person in a conversation as Designntrend.com stated that users added to a private chat will be able to add more people. However, Twitter said the new function will provide a ground for detailed discussion of topics found on the social network.

Twitter product director Jinen Kamdar said, "We don't think of it as displacing all the messaging apps that you have on your phone but as a way to interact with people you ordinarily wouldn't be able to, because your graphs is so unique on Twitter."

Kamdar further explained that the group chat function may serve as a place where people who are not compulsorily personally acquainted may discuss topics of common interest.

"These are people you may not have even met," Kamdar said, "or you may not have their phone number, and we think that the fact that you can sort of have a backchannel conversation about public content that lives on Twitter is the thing that differentiates it, and that will be appealing to users."

The Guardian reports that these new features can be recognized as measures Twitter is taking to compete with rival social networks such as Facebook. Quartz noted, the 30-second video function specifically lends itself to advertising campaigns given that the clips will have the same length as television commercial.
