Hyori and volunteers work to spread warmth this winter

The Wonderful Foundation's website today highlighted Kpop singer and actress Lee Hyori's volunteer efforts under the heading "Hyori's tea for warming the soul" with photos recounting a day spent out in the cold helping the elderly of Korea.

With the money they raised and donated, Hyori and her fans came together to purchase coal briquettes for fueling heaters, vinyl sheets to insulate homes, and Korean citron tea. They then went into the poorly-insulated homes of elderly citizens and installed the vinyl sheets, presented briquettes and shared time over a cup of tea.

When the news of her volunteer work got out, Hyori tweeted, "It's not a matter for receiving compliments over. It's not like we were able to donate a more expensive type and efficient type of fuel like oil or that the coal briquettes will be able to keep the elderly warm all the time. These briquettes are short-lasting, and I know that the people we met would only be able to use them when the cold became unbearable, but I hoped that the people we met today [often who only wish to stay out of other people's ways] would not have to worry about having to spend money over at least one coal briquette or insulation, and that they might be a little warmer this winter."

Those who came across her tweet and the volunteer work, however, believed her actions are praiseworthy. They left comments like "In any case, what you did was admirable and difficult work," "Finkl feels like its part of our family now," and "Very inspirational."
