'Kill La Kill' English Dub Gets Toonami Time Slot After Slump In Ratings Shrinks Programming Block Further

Recently it was announced that the revived from the 90s anime programming would be shortened due to a slump in ratings. Perhaps the ratings will go back up now that popular series "Kill La Kill" will finally arrive in an official time slot starting Feb. 7.

According to a recent tweet by Aniplex USA, "Kill La Kill" is set to air the official English dubbed version at 12:30am in the Toonami program block. Given the early positioning in the shortened block, perhaps it will bring back fans who may have left Toonami after too many reruns of popular series "Attack on Titan."

Although there's no certainty that re-runs caused the initial Toonami ratings decrease, fans in an ANN forum certainly blame reruns for it.

"That's because 'Attack on Titan' has been in reruns for almost 3 months," commented Blatch.

"I don't care how popular a show was during its first broadcast run, reruns WILL have lower ratings. There is absolutely no benefit to airing immediate reruns of anything unless your name is 'Family Guy' or 'Futurama' and neither are anime," explained LazyDude500.

Crunchyroll reports that re-runs might indeed be the cause when you consider that Toonami will be further reduced than previously reported and will now only include new episodes of series from 12:00am to 3:30am.

Toonami released the following official statement that explains the shortened programming:

"In life, we all must deal with change, friends. And sometimes that change is hard. Starting February 7th, the Toonami schedule will be reduced to a Midnight-3:30am run every Saturday.

But TOONAMI IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE.

And the good news is, we still have three and a half hours of premieres for you, every week, with more new stuff to come!

2015's gonna have Kill La Kill, plus several MORE new shows, as well as Intruder 2, the Toonami comic, and lots of other fun goodies!

For fans of GITS, IGPX, Bebop, AoT, etc, we're sorry but due to slipping ratings in those later hours, Adult Swim programming has determined a change is necessary. These shows may be back at some point- or they may not. Nothing is definitive on that front.

We may be getting smaller, but hopefully we're getting stronger."
