f(x) Member Amber Set To Make February Solo Debut As Popularity Grows On 'Real Men'

SM Entertainment announced that f(x)’s Amber will be making her solo debut in February.

In 2014, SM Entertainment announced that several members of popular idol groups would be promoting as solo artists in 2015. Amber will be the first SM female idol to go solo in 2015, ahead of rumors of a Girls’ Generation member also debuting.

Along with going solo as a singer, Amber’s appearance on the female version of the variety show Real Men has garnered her much attention in South Korea.

Amber joins the lineup of several other SM Entertainment idols who have debuted as solo artists in recent years. Henry and Zhou Mi of Super Junior M, Kyuhyun of Super Junior, and Taemin and Jonghyun of SHINee have all embarked on solo careers, releasing their own mini-albums and promoting as solo singers.

The solo debut will not be Amber’s only solo activity; she began appearing on the second special of Real Men, a show where celebrities go through army-like training, to experience what Korean men face when fulfilling their obligatory service. The first female special launched Girl’s Day member Hyeri to national fame, and Amber is gaining similar attention, particularly due to the fact that she is a foreigner and she struggles slightly with Korean military terms.

Amber is popular among K-pop fans not only for her singing and rapping skills but also for both her tomboyish concept and being able to communicate with fans from all over the world due to her being Taiwanese-American.

f(x) last made a comeback in July 2014, with “Red Light.” It is unknown when the quintet will release their next album.

Amber’s album is set to be released in the second week of February, reports X Sports News.
