Big Bang's T.O.P Discusses His Upcoming Chair Art Collection With Sunday Magazine

Big Bang's T.O.P had a candid, in-depth interview with Sunday Magazine where he revealed his enthusiasm for art. The idol first gained attention for his creative side after winning the Visual Culture Award from the Prudential Eye Awards held on January 20 at the Sands Theater in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. The award is presented to emerging Asian artists. The idol was recognized for showing great potential and interest in the fields of furniture design, architecture and art.

T.O.P discussed the coveted award in the interview. "At first I didn't want to disclose it and intended to keep pursuing art quietly, but it turned out like this," he confessed. "Art and design are not difficult things, and I decided to accept this award with the desire to share the things that I like."

"In addition, the Asia Artist Award Group Show starts in April, and I will be acting as co-curator with the Serenella Ciclitira PMG chairman and independent curator Lee Yeongju-ssi."

The idol and emerging furniture designer revealed plans for an upcoming chair art collection. "I think my first artistic work will be a chair collaboration project with Vitra museum," he explained. "My sketches are in Vitra's art collection and they are in the process of being manufactured."

When asked whether he would provided a preview of his sketches, he quickly shunned the idea. "I can't reveal them yet. It was originally scheduled to come out by the end of last year, but the 3D production was delayed so the samples also didn't come out."

He did provide a few details, however. "They're metal chairs, but they capture the feeling of something flowing. Because I was born in '87, I thought to create a limited edition collection of 87 chairs."

T.O.P continues to show great versatility as an idol turned actor turned furniture designer. What do you think of T.O.P's latest artistic project?
