It surpassed 3% in viewer ratings only in its third week of airing, which is the highest rating for the newer syndicated channels in history.
The cast, which includes very well-known veteran actors like Lee Soon Jae, Kim Hae Sook, A Pink's Son Naeun and Yoo Dong Keun, combined with writer Kim Soo Hyun, is delivering compact and solid dialogue and the direction from Jung Eul Young PD is drawing audiences in. The word of mouth is helping other viewers turn to the drama.
There are perhaps 3 main reasons why the drama is gaining popularity.
The cast is incredibly diverse. Ranging from veterans to newbies, the cast does a wonderful job of portraying the characters that they were assigned. They all have very solid acting abilities and span generations to create a very wholesome ensemble.
There is also the unique appeal of the writing from Kim Soo Hyun, which the viewer's always love. There are already notable lines from the script that stick in the viewers' memories and very realistically portray the relationships between all characters and the family life. These lines are definitely allowing the audience to be immersed in the drama and its stories.
One notable storyline would be that of Um Ji Won, who will be a single mother by choice.
Recently, she spoke to Kim Hae Sook, who plays her mother and says, "Whether I met someone who was irresponsible, or I played around or the man died, I'm a single mother. I'm only a single mother because I couldn't bring myself to kill the baby," and very directly addressed the issue of being a single mother.
Kim Hae Sook said, "Don't try to teach your mother. I'm not here to study that." The two of them create a very well-balanced back and forth and the lines give no room for mistakes and error.
The production company said, "We thank the viewers for all their support. Thanks to the fans, we, the crew and the cast, are able to work hard every day and continue on this journey. Please stay tuned for more amazing stories."
