EXO Fans Concerned For Lay And Tao As SM Entertainment Files Lawsuits Against Kris And Luhan

SM Entertainment's recent legal actions against EXO's Luhan and Kris Wu have not only caused worry for fans of the two inactive members, but also for the remaining Chinese members of the group.

This month, the record label filed a lawsuit against Kris and Luhan for allegedly violating their contracts by conducting promotions and pursuing projects in China. After filing the lawsuit in Shanghai, SM Entertainment also filed a similar lawsuit against Luhan through Hong Kong on Feb. 10.

"After filing a lawsuit through the Shanghai court in China on Feb. 4, SM Entertainment has officially filed a lawsuit against Luhan and the movie production companies which allowed Luhan to star in a film without notice through the Hong Kong court on Feb. 10," said the label according to allkpop.

"As revealed in our previous statement, we will take legal measures to protect the rights and profits of SM, EXO, and other victims affected by the illegal celebrity promotions and breach of contract and prevent such infringement of rights."

SM Entertainment's lawsuits filed in China is causing EXO fans to be concerned for the group's remaining two Chinese members, Huang Zitao (Tao) and Zhang Yixing (Lay).

"I want Lay and Tao to leave EXO," commented Kristell_Av on allkpop.

"EXO-M won't be able to perform in China after these legal issues. I've been in China, and Kris and Luhan are really popular there. EXO is still popular but I doubt Chinese people will still like EXO when a Korean company treats its national in that way."

Previously, rumors surfaced that Tao and Lay could sign with the Chinese agency Hwai Brothers should they separate from SM. Given that reports indicated Hwai Brothers was close to signing Kris, a source alleged the agency was attempting to grab Chinese artists under SM to launch a new group in China.
