YG Entertainment Confirms Big Bang Comeback Date

Big Bang will officially make a comeback after more than 1,000 days since they last released a group album.

YG Entertainment, Big Bang's agency, confirmed the comeback of one of Korea's top idol groups. On February 11, Korean outlet Newsen reported that YG Entertainment's CEO confirmed the rumors in an interview, "The group plans to make a comeback with a new album in April."

The representative also said that Big Bang will be the first YG Entertainment artist to release music in 2015.

This will be the first album that the five have released together since 2012.

Fans around the world have been expecting Big Bang to make a group comeback for years, and South Korean fans ironically celebrated 1,000 days since Big Bang's last group release in January.

Big Bang as a group last music release in Korea was "Still Alive" in June of that year. The five members of the idol group have each released their own music and participated in several intra-group collaboration projects. Big Bang held over ten group and solo concert tours since the release of "Still Alive."

Some members, notably rapper T.O.P, have also pursued acting careers since 2012.

Rumors of a Big Bang comeback in 2015 were confirmed by leader G-Dragon in January, during Big Bang's Japanese dome tour. The comeback had originally been announced for 2014, but was delayed by the collaboration between members G-Dragon and Taeyang for the digital single, "Good Boy."

Despite not making a group comeback since 2012, Big Bang is one of South Korea's most popular idol groups, with fans throughout the world. In 2014, the music video for the group's "Fantastic Baby" became the first video by a male K-pop group to surpass more than 100 million views on YouTube.

Big Bang is completing work on the album, which will be released in April.
