‘Beetlejuice 2' Movie Confirmed By Winona Ryder! Tim Burton Won't Call It A Sequel But Promises Some Of Original Cast Will Return

Winona Ryder just confirmed that the widely rumored "Beetlejuice 2" is definitely in the works.

"As far as I know, it's gonna happen," the actress who played Lydia Deetz in the hit horror comedy film told HuffPost Live's Ricky Camilleri at the Sundance Film Festival.

Meanwhile, in a separate interview, Tim Burton revealed to Yahoo! Movies that the script for the upcoming project is already done, but clarified that "Beetlejuice 2" is not going to be a sequel.

"There's a script now, that I think is closer to what it could be and I'm excited about it," he admitted. "I wouldn't call it so much a sequel, but it'll have some characters [from the original 'Beetlejuice']. It's a bit too early to say but it's definitely something that's on my radar and something I'd love to do."

Furthermore, the follow up to Burton's 1988 horror comedy movie would only be possible if the actor who played Beetlejuice would return to reprise his role.

"There's only one Beetlejuice, and that's Michael. There is a script, and I would love to work with him again. I think there is now a better chance than ever... I miss that character. There's something that's cathartic and amazing about it. I think it's closer than ever," Burton explained in an interview with IGN.

And if Keaton's words were true, then it's most likely that "Beetlejuice 2" would indeed become a reality.

"I've e-mailed Tim a couple of times, talked to the writer a couple of times, but all really, really preliminary stuff until relatively recently. I always said that's the one thing I'd like to do again, if I ever did anything again. But it kind of required Tim to be involved some way or another," the 63-year-old Hollywood star previously revealed in an interview with MTV.

He then added, "Now it looks like he is involved. And without giving too much away we've talked to each other, and e-mailed each other, and if he's in, it's going to be hard not to be in."
