Deftones New Album Ready For The Studios; Band Almost Done With Songwriting Process

Deftones are reported to be back for a new album, which is expected within the year after reports that the band is back in the studio and is ready for recording.

Three years after the band released, "Koi No Yokan" and following the tragic passing of their bassist Chi Cheng, the rock band from Sacramento has confirmed that they are almost done with their song writing process and will start recording really soon.

"We are actually writing a new record and we're gonna... We're supposed to be going in to record it next month, but we're taking it as it goes. I mean, we're not all the way ready now, but we've still got time and we're working on it," guitarist Stephen Carpenter revealed last January to Blabbermouth.

Deftones were reportedly set to release "Eros" on 2013 but fate turned its back on them after Cheng was then comatose that left the decision for front man Chino Moreno to hide the record from their fans.

"I get asked about that record a lot. For a while, I was giving the same answer, 'No, no, no, no, no, no, no.' After Chi's passing, I went back and listened to some of the record and it was a pretty intense experience, to say the least," Moreno said.

In another interview, the 41-year-old singer thought about releasing "Eros" but claimed that it still has a lot of work to do.

"I think it should be released, but we don't have any definite plans. There's some work to do on it. DEFTONES have been moving forward in a strong, positive motion, so for us to stop and reflect on something five years ago, I don't know if we're ready for that," he said.
