Psy will not Fall Easily, 'An Expert SWOT Analysis'

Psy had been at number 2 on Billboard's main single chart HOT 100 for 7 weeks in a row. Although it is interesting to see whether or not he will make it to number 1, it is also time to look at his potential for being around in the long run.

According to YG Entertainment, Psy has been working on his new album. This is important for him as it is his first international album and it is also the turning point for him to either succeed after the "Gangnam Style" syndrome.

Experts stated, "We do not think that Psy will fall down from the top that easily." A pop culture critic analyzed Psy according to the SWOT (Strength-Weakness-Opportunity-Threat) method.

S=Well Known in U.S. and Winner of Killer Contents

Yang Hyun Suk: He has over 834 million YouTube views. He has beaten Justin Bieber. His 'horse-riding' dance has become more popular that LMFAO's shuffle dance. News about his new song is gaining global attention. His will power is very strong and has overcome many hardships. Whether it be a 100 or a 1,000 audience Psy is able to lift everyone out of their seats with his energetic music. He is stronger by himself than an entire idol group.

Kang Tae Gyu: Psy has been given an opportunity that money cannot buy. Psy is the best in that he is a multi-entertainer and song writer.

Choi Gyu Sung: He has become so well known that he is able to promote in the U.S. His song includes killer contents and is more than just a singer. He is a producer, created, innovator and more.

W= There are still Racial, Language and Cultural Barriers

Yang Hyun Suk: There is only one reason that he was not able to be number 1 on the U.S. Billboard. That reason is because the song is a Korean song. There is a limit to how much one can promote a song and so that is why he is not able to beat other artists in the air play category. Although it is a great feat for "Gangnam Style" to make it far as he did, it is not the best results when looked at as a whole.

Kang Tae Gyu: Although Psy has overcome many things; there are still racial, language and cultural barriers. He is still a foreigner in the states. There may be unexpected twists that arise from cultural differences and values.

Choi Gyu Sung: The U.S. is still a place that favors the traditional music market. Although Psy is doing well with online downloads, we need to see how well he will do with offline album sales.

O= Changed Status, Investment-Promotions Increase

Yang Hyun Suk: Universal Music and Scooter Braun's thoughts on Psy probably have changed drastically since they first saw him. With Psy becoming more and more popular, Universal has probably envisioned more things for Psy.

Kang Tae Gyu: Although Psy portrays his comical and creative side now; there may be a time where he will have to show his serious musical side as well. Even if his next song fails, the popularity of "Gangnam Style" will still allow him to show off his skills and promote again.

Choi Gyu Sung: Psy's success has been through new media (SNS-YouTube) and there are too many that have been able to do so through YouTube.

T= New Media Unpredictable...Loyalty and Longevity 'Question Mark'

Yang Hyun Suk: This goes not only for Psy, but to all artists in that they are not able to make a good song. However, I don't think that will be a problem for Psy. All the future songs written and produced by Psy will most likely be able to succeed like "Gangnam Style." He has been known for his singer-songwriter abilities.

Kang Tae Gyu: He has to battle with world famous musicians and unlike idols; Psy does not hold a huge fan base. However, he is already on level with famous stars such Justin Bieber and that was already quite a shock.

Choi Gyu Sung: U.S. Billboard does not have a stable array of artists. The Billboard includes songs from all over the world. Psy will probably not be able to go far with his comical image. He needs to prove his musical talent in a short amount of time.
