K-Pop Destinations: Seaes Hotel & Resort On Jeju Island

Welcome to 'K-pop Destinations,' the series that helps readers travel across the world. We'll show you where hit shows and videos are filmed, where top performers are giving concerts, or where your favorite stars take their vacations. That way, the next time you take a vacation, you can make sure to incorporate a little K-pop travel into your getaway.

This week, we're taking a look at the Seaes Hotel and Resort in Jungmun, on Jeju Island. Jeju Island is one of Korea's most popular getaway destinations for good reason. It's got it all - breathtaking views from mountaintops, historical and cultural monuments, fresh seaside air, miles of clear coastlines, a volcano, and plenty of attractions, shopping, and excellent restaurants for travelers.

Those backdrops are perfect, of course, for K-dramas. The entire island is littered with past filming landmarks, (which we'll cover in future K-pop Destination installments) but today we're focusing on the Seaes Hotel and Resort.

One of the great things about the Seaes Hotel and Resort in Jungmun is that if your fellow travelers aren't K-drama fans, there's still plenty to love about this luxury accommodation.

The resort has a variety of rooms depending on what kind of getaway you're looking for, with everything from a romantic suite with outdoor bath and dining to traditional cottage-like rooms with stone walls, picturesque ponds, and colorful gardens.

But let's get to the good stuff: the K-drama filming locations.

The most popular K-drama attraction at the Seaes is probably the bench from 'Secret Garden' where Kim Joo Won and Gil Ra Im first shared a kiss.

There are several signs around the resort leading visitors to the 'Kiss Bench,' as they call it. You're free to sit on it, look out at the surrounding grass plaza and sea view, take as many pictures as you'd like, and maybe even re-enact the scene yourself.

(Kiss comes starting at about 1:22 in this video)

Another popular K-drama destination at the Seaes is the garden and gazebo area where 'Princess Hours' filmed a few scenes. This is a good one to catch at sunset or early evening, when the dramatic lighting begins to dance across the beautifully landscaped gardens and everything gives off a serene, mystical aura.

Keep walking around those gardens, and true K-drama fans will also recognize the scenery -- particularly a quaint stone walking path -- from a scene in 'Boys Over Flowers.'

Even if you can't afford to splurge on a night or two in the Seaes Resort, don't worry. The grounds are open to Jeju visitors that want to take a stroll around the gardens, enjoy the sea view and air, and, of course, hit the K-drama hotspots.

Also make sure to pop in the hotel lobby -- inside are several photos of the filming of several other K-dramas and reality shows, including 'We Got Married,' 'Happy Together,' 'Princess Snow,' and 'I'm Sorry, I Love You.'

Have any of you been to the Seaes Resort, or are hoping to plan a trip soon? Let us know in the comments!
