EXID Record New Version Of Hit 'Up & Down' For LG Phone Commercial

K-pop girl group EXID is still flying high on the success of their 2014 single "Up & Down." The five members are featured in the latest commercials for the LG U+ phone.

EXID recorded a new version of "Up & Down," the song that won the group widespread recognition four months after its release, for the new ad spot that was uploaded to LG's YouTube channel.

The 3-minute music video parallels the group's original "Up & Down" release, but with altered lyrics to help promote the new phone. In addition, the company also launched a promotional website where EXID fans can enter to win clothing, jewelry, and other prizes.

Entries for the contest are being accepted through March 15, with winners announced on March 18.

The new version of the video has received more than 1 million views since its release on February 16. The original music video boasts an impressive 10.6 million views, while the fan video that helped boost the song's popularity has been viewed more than 8.5 million times.

EXID released their original version of "Up & Down" on August 27. However, it wasn't until a fan-filmed video of member Hani during a live performance went viral that the song hit the top of the charts. The sudden and unexpected popularity of the song prompted the group and their agency, Yedang Entertainment, to re-launch promotions of the song.

"I didn't even imagine [the fancam] would lead us to high places on music charts," Hani said during music show promotions for the original song in December, according to the Kpop Herald.

"However, at least we made a big name for ourselves for now. And it is more important to focus on our activities in the future."
