MBC Lifts Ban On Andy Lee Ahead Of Shinhwa's 'Sniper' Comeback Later This Month

Shinhwa member Andy Lee will soon be making his return to MBC.

The Korean boradcasting network has agreed to lift a more than year old ban on the singer as of February 19.

"Andy’s ban was lifted on January 19th and he can now appear on all shows on MBC,” read a statement from the network earlier this week. MBC also added that they reconsider such broadcasting bans once a request is made by the artist.

In November 2013, Lee was caught up in an illegal gambling scandal and was indicted on charges for betting on soccer matches. The singer ultimately ended up paying a 5 million KRW (approximately $5,000 USD) fine. In January 2014, MBC issued a ban prohibiting Lee from appearing on their programs.

For a year, Lee has been on hiatus from all Shinhwa and individual activities. He first re-entered the spotlight with an appearance in January alongside his group mates for the 800th episode of SBS's music show, Inkigayo. Lee will make a full return to Shinhwa later this month with the upcoming release of Shinhwa's twelfth album, We.

Lee is scheduled for an appearance on the February 22 episode of MBC's Entertainment Relay where he will give viewers an inside look at the music video for Shinhza's upcoming single "Sniper."

The "Sniper" music vide is scheduled for release with We on February 26.
