K-Pop Destinations: Relax Like Dara In Bataan, The Philippines

Welcome to 'K-pop Destinations,' the series that helps readers travel across the world. We'll show you where hit shows and videos are filmed, where top performers are giving concerts, or where your favorite stars take their vacations. That way, the next time you take a vacation, you can make sure to incorporate a little K-pop travel into your getaway.

Fans of Dara might recognize this week's destination from the star's recent Instagram feed. After working hard for a few days in the Philippines, she took a little time off in the province of Bataan.

Bataan is just one of many destinations in the beautiful Philippines. Some of the country's many islands, like Boracay, Luzon, Palawan, and Panay -- famous for their white sand beaches, crystal clear water, and laid-back island vibe -- get a lot of the tourist traffic.

But Bataan is worth a visit, too. For one, unlike most of the other destinations, it's just a few hours outside of the metro Manila area, so if you've got a schedule as jam-packed as Dara's you can make a quick getaway outside the country's major transportation hub.

Additionally, Bataan is a great destination for people that want more than just the beach. The place is full of all the infinity pools and seaside resorts that a beach bum could want, but it's also a prime location for history buffs and lovers of the outdoors.

Let's start with the history. A lot of people may recognize Bataan as the start of the Bataan Death March, the tragic World War II incident in which Japanese soldiers forced thousands of Filipino and American soldiers to march to captivity. The treacherous journey ended in death for thousands. The region has historical landmarks and trail markers where tourists can learn more about the march. Visitors can also check out churches, parks, and historical markers built by any of the Philippines former rulers, including the Dutch, the Spanish, and the Chinese.

Got any bird lovers on the trip? Good news. Bataan is well known for being a birdwatching hotspot.

Now, do you want to get some exercise in on your vacation, and get some great views while doing it? Bataan has fantastic hiking and mountain biking trails, many of which lead to scenic waterfalls where you can rest and enjoy a swim.

And of course, you can always kick back like Dara.

Bataan is home to several seaside resorts that offer guests poolside relaxation and peaceful sunset walks along the beach. Whether nodding off on a wicker chair next to an infinity pool or splashing around under the shade of tall green palms, this is the perfect place to catch a few breaths and get that sunkissed glow the next time you're in the Philippines.
