Kim Hyun Joong's Ex-Girlfriend Says She Has No Plans To Marry The Star, Despite Pregnancy

No marriage for Kim Hyun Joong and ex-girlfriend Choi, says Choi's legal representatives.

Following mixed reports about Korean star Kim Hyun Joong's relationship with his ex-girlfriend, Ms. Choi, Choi's representatives issued a statement stating that Choi would like to end the public discussion about their relationship and her pregnancy. Rumors initially stated that Choi and Kim were planning to get married due to Choi's pregnancy, but while both sides confirmed the pregnancy, a new statement contradicts initial reports that the former couple will marry.

On February 25, Newsen reported about the situation after talking to Choi's legal representative, Sun&Partners' Seon Jong Moon.

"Our client wishes for the issue to end as soon as possible," said Seon. "She has lost 4 kilograms [8.8 pounds,] and she is physically and mentally exhausted. As of now, Choi does not want to get married and is willing to raise the child on her own. As it is an issue that involves [Kim's] family, there are difficulties."

Dispatch revealed that Choi also released a set of text messages showing that she was conscious of the public's ridicule of her for becomming involved with Kim after filing charges against him. The texts also included conversations between Choi and Kim's parents, who urged her to get additional testing; Choi insisted that her ultrasound, sent to Kim on February 14, was proof enough.

A local Korean magazine, Woman Sense, reported the news on Feb. 22. The magazine reported that Kim Hyun Joong and Choi reconciled following a 2014 court case.  After reconciling, Choi became pregnant and Woman Sense wrote that the two planned on getting married.

After the initial report from Woman Sense, Kim's agency KeyEast issued several statements regarding the situation. Kim's representatives stated that the two had no plans to get married, and that Kim was having difficulties contacting Choi. His side confirmed the pregnancy, but also said that Kim wanted to meet with Choi at the hospital and she was uncommunicative.

Kim said that he will take full responsibility for the child but denied the marriage rumors in a statement from KeyEast on Feb. 23.

In 2014, Choi filed violence charges against Kim. After Kim apologized to Choi, she dropped the charges. Although the lawsuit was dropped, Kim was indicted by Seoul courts and forced to pay a fine of roughly $4,600.

Kim Hyun Joong released his latest Japanese album, "Still," in January.
