Girls' Generation Announce Korean Comeback Plans Following News Of Japanese Single Release

One of Korea's top girl groups will be promoting in both Japan and Korea in 2015.

A day after the news of Girls' Generation's first activities since the idol group lost a member, Korean media outlets reported on a Korean comeback for 2015. Girls' Generation is planning a Japanese comeback with "Catch Me If You Can" in April, and Sports DongA reported that the girl group will then set their eyes on Korea in May.

The SM Entertainment produced girl group will release its fifth studio album in May. This will be the group's follow up to their 2014-released EP, "Mr. Mr," and Girls' Generation's first full length album since 2013's "I Got A Boy."

Girls' Generation's May comeback will be the first time that the girl group releases music as an octet, after the departure of former member Jessica Jung. Jung left Girls' Generation after a difference in priorities due to the singer creating a personal fashion line. She remained under SM Entertainment, but it has since been reported that Jung is no longer signed to the Korean entertainment powerhouse.

Jung is reportedly planning to debut as a solo singer in Japan.

The eight member girl group is one of South Korea's most popular idol groups, and Sports DongA reported that there is much pressure in the industry for Girls' Generation's first comeback with eight members to do well.

The idol group has typically released albums in the first or last quarter of the year, and the group has not made a comeback in the summertime since June 2009's "Tell Me Your Wish (Genie.)"

Girls' Generation will release "Catch Me If You Can" in Japan on April 22. To celebrate the release of their ninth Japanese single, Girls' Generation will also hold a fan meet with Japanese fans.
