EXO’s Chanyeol Offers Adorable Charm In New Trailer For ‘Grandpas Over Flowers’ Adaptation ‘Last First Love’

One of the intersections of the "Hallyu Wave" of South Korean media is the increasing presence of K-pop idols in Korean blockbuster films.

No one can blame companies for bringing in idols, as it often attracts younger fans who may not otherwise be interested in a film that doesn't involve super heroes.

Nevertheless, "Last First Love" now has a new trailer featuring increasingly popular member of SM Entertainment group EXO, Chanyeol. The realtively new idol shows off some adorable charm as a student character in the "Grandpas Over Flowers" spinoff film.

Earlier this year when it was announced that Chanyeol was in talks to gain a role in the film, fans expressed massive support for the idol.

"Good luck, Chanyeol!" exclaimed Hallyustan on Allkpop.

"I am so happy for him, this is what I was waiting for. His acting is good. I saw it on K.Will's music video," commented Renne Alexis.

"In SBS Roommate, Chanyeol gave me the impression that he wants to compose songs and go into music production. I never expected he wanted to do acting too - that's great for him since now he has at least two careers he can follow in the far future if he's not an idol [in the future]," explained Everything_KPOP.

If Chanyeol is not enough to draw in extra fans, it likely won't hurt the film any, as director Kang Je-gyu has continued to have a strong presence in the box office with previous films. In fact, his film "Taegukgi" is still one of the top ten highest grossing films of all time in South Korea.

Fans can watch the new trailer featuring EXO's Chanyeol and remaining main cast of Park Geun-hyeong, Yoon Yeo-jeong, Jo Jin-woong and Han Ji-min. "Last First Love" is scheduled to hit theaters in April in Korea. The story according to Koreaboo "delves into the innocence of first love as well as the depth of a rekindled fire."
