Lee Hyori's Contract Expiration With B2M Entertainment Ignites Talk Of Singer's Future Career Plans

Lee Hyori is a free agent, doing things her own way.

On February 27, Korean media belatedly reported that solo singer Lee Hyori was no longer under contract with B2M Entertainment. Despite the reports, B2M Entertainment issued a statement clarifying that even though Lee is no longer signed to the agency, both parties remain closely tied to one another despite the singer technically becoming a free agent. Lee's contract expired in August 2013.

"I don′t know if the meaning of free agent fits in this situation," said B2M Entertainment's CEO Gil Jong Hwa according to Newsen. "It′s been a while since the contract ended and Lee Hyori has been doing her personal activities. We′ve just helped support her."

Lee Hyori got married in September 2013, shortly after her contract with B2M Entertainment expired. Gil clarified that his relationship with Lee has been close since she debut as a member of girl group Fin.K.L, and that even though Lee is no longer under contract, her relationship with B2M Entertainment remains close.

"The word ′contract′ does not match with Lee Hyori. Even when she was with B2M Entertainment, she didn′t take a signing bonus. I hope no misunderstandings rise from this."

Lee's profile is still available on B2M Entertainment's website, and Lee Hyori is not looking for a new entertainment agency or seeking a new contract as she has minimized how much work she is taking on since getting married.

Along with being a singer, Lee is a popular variety show star in South Korea. Her latest album "Monochrome," featuring title tracks "Bad Girls" and "Miss Korea," was released in 2013, but her latest release was 2013's "Don't Cry" for the soundtrack of Korean drama I Need Romance 3.
