Girls' Generation's Hyoyeon starred in an eclectic beauty pictorial in the March issue of Elle. The idol tried dark smokey eyeshadow makeup, natural fresh-face foundation illusions, and bold red lipstick for the photoshoot theme centered around popular Spring looks. The star looked sophisticated and mature in her various closeups, which accentuated her flawless skin and statement eyebrows.

During the accompanying interview, Hyoyeon revealed her developing interest in different beauty techniques and her plans to release a lifestyle book. She stated, "I'm planning on letting people know honest how-to's on makeup, skin care, and overall lifestyle. I've recently been shooting beauty shots for the images that will be in my book. I've been discovering looks that even I didn't know about. It's been really fun learning new tips within that process. Please look forward to it."

Hyoyeon also disclosed her must-have beauty products. She chose The Face Shop's Brow Master Eyebrow Kit and Benefit's Roller Lash Mascara as the two cosmetics she uses the most when doing her own makeup. Her makeup pouch also contains Shu Uemura's Tint in Gelato Lip and Cheek Color #AT02, and Tom Ford's Lip Color Cherry Lush lipstick.

Finally, Hyoyeon explained how she shops for beauty products. She said, "I shop in a lot of duty-free shops...In Hong Kong, they give miniature samples for free...I visit drug stores a lot in Korea as well."
