With Little Hope of Debuting, 'Mix & Match' Competitors Yang Hongseok And Jung Jinhyung Leave YG Entertainment

Two YG Entertainment trainees have reportedly left the Korean music agency after not making the final cut for the record label's upcoming idol group iKON.

Jung Jinhyung and Yang Hungseok, two YG Entertainment trainees, reportedly have departed from the Korean music powerhouse. Both Yang and Jung appeared in the YG Entertainment survival show Mix & Match hoping to win roles in iKON, but were cut in the final round.

It is unknown whether both or either former YG trainee will continue to pursue careers in the industry, but due to recent debuts from YG Entertainment, it is unlikely that they could stay at YG for much longer with hopes to debut anytime soon.

Newsen's exclusive report revealed that both Yang Hungseok and Jung Jinhyung left YG Entertainment, citing "personal reasons" as the deciding factor to leave the company, which YG Entertainment is respecting by letting go of two trainees.

Both Jung and Yang were some of the competitors angling for spots in YG Entertainment's soon-to-debut seven member idol group, iKON. Six trainees on the show Mix & Match competed to gain one of the four spots left open in iKON; the other three spots went to YG Entertainment trainees who had been showcased on another survival show, Who Is Next: WIN.

The two trainees will likely try their chances at another Korean entertainment agency, where they may be able to debut within the next few years. After debuting WINNER in 2014 and iKON's potential debut in 2015, it is unlikely that YG Entertainment will create another male idol group within the next few years, which means it is nearly impossible for Yang and Jung to debut at YG.

Yang's online fan site, Bomhongsi, confirmed the wannbe idol's departure from YG with a tweet on March 1. "It's true that Yang Hong Seok left YG Entertainment," they wrote. "Please believe in and support his decision."

A fan page for Jung also tweeted similar information back in February. "Jung Jin Hyung departed from YG Entertainment for personal reasons and we state that it has nothing to do with the rumors of him getting pressured by others to leave," they said while encouraging followers to consider the facts. "Please refrain from spreading rumors."

YG Entertainment has a history of letting go trainees who left and debuted with another popular idol group. BEAST's Hyunseung appeared in a previous YG Entertainment survival show, and was cut from Big Bang's final lineup. SPICA's Bohyung, 2PM's Junsu, D-Unit's U-Jin, and B.A.P's Zelo are all popular former YG Entertainment trainees.

iKON's debut is planned for 2015.
