K-Pop Throwback: G-Slow's 2009 Collaboration With Rimi And Urban Zakapa's Jo Hyun Ah 'Hold Me' Still Sounds Fresh [AUDIO]

When asked in a 2013 interview with the Korean entertainment publication Beyond Hallyu to describe his music in three words, G-Slow replied, "groove, versatility, new."

Right from the beginning, the South Korean producer has embodied all three concepts in his music. While G-Flow's 2009 debut album "High Frequency" confirmed his versatility, all of his music seems to groove in a way that doesn't age, demonstrating a love of music itself instead of strict allegiance to one type of music.

Nowhere is this timeless groove more apparent than on the track "Hold Me" from "High Frequency," featuring rapper Rimi And Urban Zakapa vocalist Jo Hyun Ah.

Like a master chef, G-Flow combines seemingly random ingredients, a mellow Fender Rhodes chord progression, a gritty synth bass, a Dirty South drum loop, and turns them into something daringly divine.

And the credit shouldn't stop there.

As any producer worth that title will tell you, a non-instrumental song is nothing without a powerful vocal and Rimi and Jo Hyun Ah make that abundantly clear by bringing the whole thing home.

These two artists will reel you in on "Hold Me," casting a spell that is impossible to ignore.

A large part of a producer's job is getting the collaborators to open up and deliver. In this sense, G-Flow once again demonstrates an incredible flair for this line of work.

Reportedly still serving out his roughly two years of mandatory service in the South Korean army, there is no doubt that G-Slow will be a force to be reckoned with when he comes home.
