EXO Top Forbes Korea List Of Most Powerful Korean Celebrities Despite Recent Lineup Changes

The most powerful celebrity in Korea? SM Entertainment's idol group, EXO.

Three years after debuting, EXO topped Forbes Korea's list of the 40 most powerful celebrities in 2015. EXO was the only male idol group to take a spot in the top five, which was filled with girl groups, actors, and athletes.

The 10-member idol group had previously appeared on the 2014 list in the number five spot. Despite two members leaving the group in 2014, the group jumped up to top rank.

EXO's rank comes in part due to its popularity and success with the 2014 EP "Overdose."

Forbes Korea's list is based on media coverage, income, expertise in the entertainment field, and television appearance of celebrities.

Second and third place went to actor Kim Soo Hyun and skater Kim Yuna, respectively. Actress Jun Ji Hyun, gymnast Son Yeon Jae, singer-actor Lee Seung Gi, baseball player Ryu Hyun Jin, soccer player Son Heung Min, Girls' Generation, and SISTAR rounded out the top ten.

EXO debuted in 2012, and has become one of South Korea's most popular musical acts in three years.

The group is planning to release a new album in 2015, but SM Entertainment has yet to announce a date for EXO's comeback. Although EXO's comeback date has yet to be announced, the group will perform several of their new songs at their upcoming "EXO'luXion" concert series. Along with new songs, the group will reveal the song "Eldorado," which was introduced to fans in EXO's pre-debut teaser videos.

Rumors have also abounded about the title song being based on a song produced by Danja, known as "Call Me Daddy." However, SM Entertainment has not addressed the potential title track.

SM Entertainment released a teaser video for the comeback in 2015, but has announced no updates on the timeline since then.
