The newest PlayStation 4 slim is expected to be given a release date this year at E3 2015, as rumors suggest.

A year after the successful announcement of the PlayStation 4, fans are looking ahead at what Sony has in store for them.

In a recent report, the company is set to give the gaming system a major upgrade that would provide a super HD 4k resolution capability.

Fans were quick to speculate that instead of introducing a PS5, Sony will most likely give the current console a hardware boost to provide the said specs.

"Support for high-resolution 4K output for still images and movie content is in consideration, but there are no further details to share at this time," Sony said.

Netflix, which reportedly provides the best UHD streaming videos, speculated that with the rapid emergence of television sets with ultra HD capabilities, it is not far from impossible that the top gaming providers would provide an upgrade.

The streaming company claimed that Sony and Microsoft are expected to have this change in the near future.

"We remain committed to bringing leading entertainment features and services to the living room," Netflix previously said. "Beyond that, we have nothing to share at this time."

This led experts to suggest that the PlayStation 4 slim would be upgraded soon.

Meanwhile, concept photos and designs were created by some fans showing the new PS4 slim.

In a report by Slash Gear, a simplified concept design was generated showing the gaming console having a redesigned version. It is said to have major hardware changes as well.

The concept photo of the PlayStation 4 slim is believed to be 25% smaller and thinner than the current version.

Release date for the PS4 slim is all rumors for now and fans are waiting for E3 2015 to happen if Sony would in fact introduce the upgraded version of the gaming device.
