B.A.P And TS Entertainment Headed To Court March 16 In Contract Dispute Case

The big legal feud between B.A.P and their agency TS Entertainment will enter formal court proceedings on March 16, the idol group's legal representative confirmed.

B.A.P is being represented by the law firm Dodam, which issued a press release on March 5 announcing the confirmed court date plus additional details on the TS Entertainment's responses - or the lack thereof - to the group's contract nullification request.

"The response filed by TS Entertainment on January 15 did not dispute the claim saying that they spent 155 million won meant for album promotions without any notice," Dodam was reported to have stated, according to an English translation by Soompi.

TS Entertainment "has yet to issue a concrete response, saying that they had too much material to go over. They said they will get back to us quickly but they have yet to send anything as of March 4," added B.A.P's law firm.

Fans are watching the case closely since it will likely determine whether the group will be able to break free from their contract, and continue putting out music. Or lose their case and risk being disbanded.

All six members of B.A.P have filed the case to nullify their contract, alleging that TS Entertainment made them sign what were effectively slave contracts due to the amount of activities they needed to commit while claiming to have received a pittance of income amounting to around $16,000 each for three years of promotions. The group had released eighteen singles since their debut, and has held several concert tours.

It had been previously expected that the first court trial date will be on March 13 but with the possibility of being pushed back due to personnel changes at the Seoul Western District Court, which will hear the case. Now that the date has been finalized, all eyes will be on the arguments and evidence to be presented over the course of the court trial.
