Spring In Korea Means The Resurgence Of Busker Busker's 2012 Hit 'Cherry Blossom Ending'

A 'zombie' song has returned to the Korean music charts.

Busker Busker's "Cherry Blossom Ending" has begun to creep up the Korean music charts as the winter turns into spring in South Korea. The song, originally released in 2012, has become one of South Korea's most popular songs and returned to the music charts every spring since the year of its release, garnering it legendary status.

As spring began in South Korea, the song once again returned to Korean music charts due to Korean fondness for the song.

"Cherry Blossom Ending" appeared on multiple Korean music charts in March. The Busker Busker song appeared in the top 10 of Naver Music, Olleh Music, and Melon on March 9.

As of March 9 EST, "Cherry Blossom Ending" was ranked fifteenth on Melon's top 100 chart. The song was ranked 19 on Gaon's mobile chart, 73rd place on the Gaon download chart, as well as 42nd  on the Gaon background music chart.

Comments on the music charts talk about how Koreans find a need to listen to the song every spring, even if it's not a song that they usually would listen to.

Because of its yearly resurgence, "Cherry Blossom Ending" has gained the nickname, "Cherry Blossom Zombie" in South Korea.

Busker Busker is an indie band that gained popularity due to appearing on Super Star K3 in 2011. The three-member band, consisting of Jang Beom Joon, Kim Hyung Tae, and Brad Moore, released two albums after coming in second place on the music competition show.

The band has been on hiatus since the release of their 2013 album, "Busker Busker 2nd Album." The group's title song from that album, "Love, At First," also gained immense popularity in South Korea.
