Ipsy March 2015 Bag Review [+VIDEO]: NYX Butter Lipstick, Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Creme Oil, Dr. Brandt Mattifying Lotion, MARSK Mineral Eyeshadow, Evelyn Iona Concealer

After my February Ipsy glam bag was sent to the wrong address, I was doubtful that my March 2015 bag was going to come on time. Alas, it arrived at my Brooklyn apartment earlier than any other glam bag I've gotten! Read on for my review about my Ipsy March 2015 glam bag, which included the NYX Butter Lipstick, Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Creme Oil, Dr. Brandt Pores No More Mattifying Lotion, MARSK Mineral Eyeshadow, and Evelyn Iona Concealer. Watch my unboxing video below!

The bag: This month's Ipsy bag is another slim, multi-colored pouch. One side of the bag is baby blue and the other side has a fun, abstract floral design in white, gray, pink, and yellow. I really like the floral pattern and think it's perfect for my heart yearning for spring. I'm not crazy about the texture of the pouch, which feels like a stiff, waterproof beach bag.

NYX Butter Lipstick in Pops: I can't tell you how nervous I was when I saw that one of the colors Ipsy was giving to subscribers was a vampy plum shade of the NYX Butter Lipstick. I was so excited to try this lipstick (so far I've gotten far too many lip glosses from my glam bags) but I was terrified that I would get it in the shade Hunk and not know what to do with it. Luckily, I got the NYX Butter Lipstick in Pops, which is a nude shade. I was also skeptical about this color because I don't usually go for "MLBB" tones. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the brown and pink undertones in this lipstick, as well as the creamy, moisturizing formula. While the product feels quite glossy and smooth, it lasts longer than one would expect. This is definitely a keeper. Price: $6.00

Sexy Hair Soy Renewal Creme Oil: Already a huge fan of Sexy Hair products (I am an avid user of their Soy Renewal Beach Spray), I couldn't wait to sample another one of their products. Argan oil is also very hydrating for hair that frizzes out during the transition into a new season. While this certainly reminds me of the high-quality results I got from the Beach Spray, I rarely blow-dry my hair. The reality is I will almost never use this product, though the smell and shine it gives my hair may tempt me to blow-dry my hair more often just so I can use this stuff up. Price: $5.00 for 1 oz

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Mattifying Lotion: This multi-tasking product is supposed to mattify, control excess oil, and provide anti-aging benefits. When applied, this product is fast-absorbing and instantly reduces shine. It makes your skin feel tight and look brighter. While the full-sized product comes in at a hefty $60.00 for a 1.7 oz bottle, the Dr. Brandt Mattifying Lotion works great as a primer to get your skin looking in tip-top shape. Price: $9.00 for 0.26 oz

MARSK Mineral Eyeshadow in Fifty Shades: This stuff doesn't mess around. Just like the intensity of a relationship with Mr. Christian Grey himself, MARSK's mineral eyeshadow is highly pigmented with some sparkle-factor and long-lasting wear. I couldn't even remove this eyeshadow from my hand after doing a swatch and washing my hands a couple of times. That $22 price tag makes a lot more sense when you realize that the formula of this product is very well done. The shade is gorgeous, as is the shimmery way it catches the light. I'm sure this would look stunning on someone who knew how to use it right, but a color this intense and this unforgiving should I apply it in the wrong place is intimidating for this make-up novice. Price: $22.50

Evelyn Iona Concealer in Flawless: I was looking forward to trying a concealer - I haven't received one yet in a glam bag and the only concealer I use is the Maybelline Fit Me! Concealer, which I've been using for over a year now. But this did not impress. The moment I opened the little pot I saw bubbles of oil sitting on top. Immediately turned off, I tried my best to stir the oil bubbles into the rest of the formula but barely any pigment came out. The product is too watery to conceal any blemish effectively. Too bad - the shade is actually pretty close to what I would want, which was a shot in the dark. An explanation for the oiliness may be the natural ingredients like jojoba and castor seed oil - but to be honest, I'd rather not have natural oils in my concealer if it means it won't be able to do its job properly. Price: $18.75 (for full size)

The total value of my Ipsy March 2015 glam bag came up to around an impressive $50. My favorite product is the NYX Butter Lipstick because it's a great shade that I otherwise wouldn't have bought and I'll definitely be using it often this spring. The most disappointing product is hands down the Evelyn Iona Concealer, which wasn't well-formulated and didn't do what a good concealer should do - hide the things that shall not be seen.

Did you get the same products in your bag? How did it differ? What did you think of your products this month? Let me know in the comments section below!
