'Avengers: Age Of Ultron' Director Joss Whedon Discusses Vision's Origin; Marvel's Biggest Team-Up Movie Arriving May 1

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" director Joss Whedon discusses the latest addition to earth's mightiest, "Vision," to be played by actor Paul Bettany in the upcoming film that arrives on May 1.

The latest addition to the team made his debut at the very end of the film's third trailer. Paul Bettany, the voice behind Tony Stark's personal A.I. J.A.R.V.I.S. will also be playing the elusive character.

Even though fans were given a teaser to what he'll look like in the movie, little is known about the character's background; the film's director Joss Whedon offers new details about Vision in an interview for Marvel's official Youtube channel.

"When I first started talking about doing an Avengers movie I was just like, 'I don't know if I should do an Avengers movie, but if you do the second one the villain should be Ultron and he should create Vision, and Bettany has to play it.'" he said.

"I was like, 'Look at those cheekbones,'" adding "Bettany's the Vision."

Earlier this year, Marvel released promotional art that included a short profile about Bettany's character. The bio appears below via CBM.

"Programmed by the combined geniuses of Tony Stark & Bruce Banner and imparted with the ability to fly, project intense energy beams and change the density of his form, the Vision has proved himself a worthy hero, aiding the Avengers in their struggle against the evil A.I. Ultron."

Meanwhile, Bettany looks like he will be holding on to his character for quite a while as he revealed that he has signed a multi-picture contract with Marvel.

"I have never known if I have had a job six months out ever in my life," the actor explained in an interview on news.com.au.

"And now I know that they have plans and I can be even more judicious about the stuff that I do outside of that work."

Paul Bettany will debut as Vision in Marvel's "Avengers: Age of Ultron" on May 1.
